The Island That Lives in Yesterday

At the Braidense library in Milan, a tribute to Umberto Eco, ten years after his death, starts from *The Island of the Day Before* and sets it among old books and science. I picked the novel up again and found myself thinking about anyone who, like me, always lives one step from the day before and never quite reaches it.

From via Padova to the Centrale

Yesterday in Milan, riders marched from via Padova to Glovo's offices near the Stazione Centrale to ask for a contract as employees. All I know is the headline and a couple of lines, but that's enough to set me thinking. I work inside a queue too. The difference is that someone has agreed to answer for mine.
